During a child or young adult’s treatment at the Stephen D. Hassenfeld Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, it’s easy to stay connected to family, friends, teachers, school classmates, work, and other important people in your life.
Let the library help you tell your story.
Many families in treatment find benefit in telling their story through email or by creating a simple webpage. Some families choose to create web pages through easy-to-use sites like CaringBridge or CarePages. During your Hassenfeld visit, you may use our computers, scan your pictures, and ask our librarian for help.
School is only a click away.
The Hassenfeld library has resources to help you stay on top of school and your homework. Some patients use the library to work on homework or to meet with a hospital teacher to keep up with their lessons. Patients can use our scanner to scan assignments that can be emailed to your teachers. Young adult patients use the library to keep up with online classes through distance learning programs. Our team of librarian, social workers, child life specialists, and psychologist are happy to help you come up with learning enrichment ideas to keep you on track with school during your treatment.
Parents can plug in, too.
While a child is in treatment at Hassenfeld many parents struggle to maintain a work/life balance. During your child's treatement at Hassenfeld, you can use the library and our computers to stay on top of your work responsibilities as much as possible. Our clinic has wireless access, so parents are welcome to bring along laptops, handhelds, and wireless devices to stay connected.
